President Adama Barrow’s Youth adviser has underscored the importance of unity, pointing out that politics should not divide us as Gambians.
Henry Gomez, the Secretary General and leader of The Gambia Party for Democracy and Progress (GPDP), was speaking recently during a presentation of sugar to various political parties and members of the Victims’ Centre. Gambians, he advised, need to unite and not to allow politics to divide them. “Politics come and go but Gambia remains as a nation.”
“This gesture should change our hearts and we should all unite even if we don’t support each other. We should respect each other for the sake of the country. Therefore, let us ensure that there’s peace and stability in the country,” he said.
The GPDP leader added that: “We should not support our leaders up to an extent that it causes problem in the country. Gambia is the country that we have. Let us support each other with a view to developing the country. Leaders come and go, therefore, leaders should not ensure that we insult and kill each other or even fight.”
