The former Inspector General of Police (2008 – 2010) Ensa Badjie widely known by his sobriquet ‘Jesus’ has been re-deployed as the new Police Commissioner for the Upper River Region (URR).
He replaces Police Commissioner Omar Darboe. Badjie who was re-instated into the Gambia Police Force with the rank of a Commissioner in February this year, as deputy Crime Management Co-ordinator (CMC) at the Police Headquarters in Banjul.
The police spokesperson ASP Lamin Njie confirmed this development. He said: “We can confirm the official re-assignment of Commissioner of Police Ensa Badjie (Jesus) to URR as Police Commissioner.”
He also disclosed that Commissioner of Police Omar Darboe has been designated to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) as Police Liaison Officer.
