RE: THE GAMBIA WILL NOT AND WILL NEVER ACCEPT GAY RIGHTS IN OUR COUNTRY; BUT WE RESPECT THE VIEWS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AMBASSADOR TO THE GAMBIA.

As a citizen of The Gambia , I would want to state emphatically in respect to the overtures made by the EU Ambassador to the Gambia, that “Homosexuality should be unbanned in The Gambia”. I wish to state in an unequivocal terms that, The Gambia will not and will never in the future accept gayism and gay rights in the country. In as much as we have unwavering respect and love for human rights and dignity, I want to reiterate that gayism is barbaric, dehumanizing, panyaric and have no place in our social fiber as a country striving to get its narrative right.

This piece of writing at normal times should have come by way of an email to the authorities of the E.U. Mission in The Gambia, but alas! these are not normal times, and more so, because I want this piece to generate a healthy public debate is the reason why I decided to respond to the E.U. via this medium. So let me kindly request that, if this will make your so-called aid to The Gambia as condition to accept this ungodly and barbaric act then The Gambia would better remain aidless and retain their self dignity and the love for humanity.

I remain sincerely active in service to this call and this is a course myself and other well meaning Gambians are ready to advocate and to champion in order to put a total halt to this ugly call by the EU Ambassador to the Gambia.

Ansumana B. Bojang.
