The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has Thursday registered a new Political Party called The Gambia Alliance for National Unity (GANU). The party is led by Sheikh Tijan Hydara, a private legal practitioner and former Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
According to the IEC, the Party Secretariat is located in Brusubi Phase 1, in the West Coast Region.
Hon. Hydara was born in Brufut and is the son of the late Caliph Sheriff Kebba Hydara.
Currently, there are 15 registered political parties in The Gambia and many more could be registered before the 2021 presidential election.
