The group of Malian soldiers that ousted President Ibrahim Boubacarr Keita(IBK) last Tuesday has denied claims that they want to serve a transition of 3 years. The soldiers refute such claims on Monday in the country’s capital Bamako.
There is no evidence that the Malian military is willing to remain in power for at least three years. The group of soldiers that called themselves Le Comité National de Salut du Peuple (CNSP) denied it on Monday morning.
According to Colonel Major Ismael Wagué, spokesman for the CNSP, so far, “nothing has been decided. “I would like to specify that at this stage of the discussion with the ECOWAS mediation team, nothing has been decided. At no time has there been talk of a government with a military majority,” the colonel said.
