The Gender Centre for Empowering Development (GenCED), a Ghana-based organisation set-up to promote women’s empowerment, has trained 20 young Gambian women on political leadership. The seminar was held at the Paradise Suites Hotel in Kololi from Friday, 27th November to Monday, 30th November 2020.
GenCED is aimed at empowering women and youth for sustainable development. It was established in May, 2011 as an independent, non-profit, research and advocacy organisation.
The recently concluded Political Leadership Training attracted young Gambian women from various parts of the country, who were drawned from the various political parties such as UDP, PPP, PDOIS, GDC, and CA.
The three-day training was meant to enhance the political participation of young women leaders within the internal structures of their political parties, as well as structures at the national political leadership level.
The training serves as a morale booster for young women politicians to participate in decision making processes and to promote the rights of women in active and effective political participation and representation at all levels.
