The Turkish Defence Attaché to the Gambia, also accredited to the Republics of Senegal and Guinea Bissau Colonel Sabahattin Guldagi was at the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday, 29 December 2020 to update the Honourable Minister of Defence, Honourable Sheikh Omar Faye, on the on-going activities and anticipated logistic support, the Government of Turkey is doing for the Gambia Armed Forces in the on-going Security Sector Reform process especially in the area of capacity building amongst a host of others.
Delivering, the welcoming remarks, the Honourable Minster of Defence, Ambassador Sheikh Omar Faye, on behalf of the President of the Republic of the Gambia and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr Adama Barrow and the entire Gambian people seized the opportunity to thank the Turkish Defence Attaché and his entourage for their consistent and unwavering support to the Gambia Armed Forces, subsequently to the Ministry of Defence.
Describing the visit as an esteemed one, the Honourable Minister went on to elaborate on the achievements so far recorded in the security sector, with copious anticipation of more assistance from the Government of Turkey in crucial areas of need. The Honourable Minister went on to request for more training opportunities and exchange programs in key vital areas for the Gambia Armed Forces as well for the staff of the Ministry of Defence from the Government of Turkey.
The Turkish Defence Attaché to the Gambia, for his part applauded the hard work and commitment of the entire team of the Ministry of Defence, describing all the achievements recorded so far as laudable ones. He reiterated on the Turkish Government commitment in accompanying the Gambia Armed Forces in this crucial stage of transformation, adding, with all hands on deck, the much awaited security sector reforms will surely be attained.
The Defence attaché wrapped up by assuring all and sundry of the Turkish Government continuous support and collaboration with the Ministry of Defence in ensuring that the Security Sector Reform processes and all other on-going transformation of our armed forces are met with all aspired benefits realized.
