Multiple award-winning journalist joins GPU as senior programme officer

We’re excited to announce that Mr. Modou Joofhas joined us at the GPU. He comes in as senior programme officer, replacing Ms Haddija Jawara.

Joof combines skills and knowledge in the teaching and practice of journalism.

He has more than ten years of experience in the field. He worked as reporter and editor for several national media organisations. As a freelance journalist, his works appeared on a number of international media organisations, including Voice of America (VOA) and Inter Press Service (IPS).

The GPU Secretary General, Mr Saikou Jammeh, said of Joof’s appointment: “I started the practice before him but he joined the GPU before me. That speaks to his love for the GPU and his commitment to the business of journalism.

He added: “Joof brings to the table solid years of experience and an enviable track record of professionalism. He is passionate about press freedom and more importantly, he has lived the experiences of reporters and editors and has always demonstrated willingness to fight for their causes.”
