Fatoumatta: Tears do not impair vision. We are still able to see when we cry. Etiquette demands that behavior should be linked to the deeply rooted values of one’s society. Politics requires discipline, restraint, and optics. Some actions are so bad that how your family and the public see you is not subject to spin.
Who listens to Waa Jawara? He should keep quiet and wait for his maker. Those who have followed his political career as a “political prostitute ” and his utterances over the years know he has no moral authority to advise anyone. Juwara’s political journey defies logic. However, then Gambian politics and political actors, many a time, defy logic. This is why one political commentator once questioned if Abubacarr Darboe’s Advisers have their ‘brains amputated. Why would they entertain Mbaroadi’s endorsement? Lamin Juwara called Abubacarr Darboe with all unprintable names over the years and characterized Abubacarr Darboe as ” a coward, chicken-hearted, a fence jumper” and ridiculed him in the gravest terms.
According to the Standard newspaper edition of September 27, 2021, it stated Lamin Waa Jawura “has called on opposition leaders in the country to put aside individual differences and rally behind UDP’s Ousainu Darboe to unseat President Adama Barrow in the December election.”
Fatoumatta: Wasnt it not the same disgraced and toothless Mbaroadi who served in former Yahya Jammeh’s cabinet as Local Government Minister? Was not Lamin Juwara one of Yahya Jammeh’s arch critics and traducers? He later shamelessly joined Yahya Jammeh’s cabinet before being disgraced in broad daylight?
Do not fight or insult one another over our opportunistic politicians. Lamin Waa Juwara has finally endorsed Abubacarr Darboe of the United Democratic Party (UDP), the party he once insulted and described as “a party of enthonochavinists without ideology. ” If you once praised him for insulting Abubacarr Ousainou Darboe and the UDP, hasn’t he now made you look foolish? It is not worth it to fight your friends and fellow citizens for stupid reasons (politicians).
In the name of politics, should we toss our human dignity, human values away? Is everything of indecency? No shame, no decorum, no minimum? Dear Lord! The same grifters who corrupted our values are at it again, all in a race to the bottom. No! We will not take it. We will fight. Not again! The dead are yet to be buried in the grave, and the grave is not even dug. So leave dirty politics and cheap political scores aside. Using your remaining dignity moments for politics is tasteless. Are these leaders? Leaders who are eating their young!
Fatoumatta: On December 4, 2021, the presidential election is yet to be a marathon runner. So the masquerade who danced too early in the morning will most likely become a spectator in the evening when everyone is ready for the show. So do not bet your shirt on the politician. I do not envy any politician changing his political affiliation in line with his aspirations. After all, our politics is not a morality contest. However, is: why should an older politician lack morality to validate ethnic chauvinism and opportunism?
Fatoumatta: Presidential Election, we want to see endorsements based on national interests, not religious, ethnic, or tribalism, and selfish interests. Be careful of these categories of endorsers: those who support any Presidential candidate. They have been around since former President Yahya Jammeh’s first coming to date; they played prominent roles during President Jammeh’s regime and worked very hard to aided and abetted him in power; they justified everything he did and told us he was the best thing to have happened to us. They have metamorphosed and now saying the same something against President Adama Barrow.
They are economic leeches who cannot survive outside of government and are demagogues of influential opposition leaders in anticipation of victory and without the corrupt patronage of free funds; be careful with them. Another set of endorsers you should treat with caution are those who hate or despise the candidates because of religion and ethnicity. It is not the candidates’ fault that they practice a particular religion or come from a part of the country. Vote for the person and what he represents or stands for, not where he comes from or what he believes. After all, we have had leaders from different religions and ethnicity, and they have all failed us!
Fatoumatta: Wonders never cease. Lamin Waa Juwara lacks the moral authority to speak to Gambians. His best bet is to disappear from public view slowly. Shameless older man. Not the type of Gambian we respect, and sadly, there are many of his ilks in our midst. Just another merchant of fortune who prey on the frailties of the Gambian psyche. No more disgraced and toothless Lamin Mbaroadi because we have figured you out. Gambians have scripted his political obituary as his voice is not needed in the current or new Gambia.
Fatoumatta: Finally, the various clandestine organizations and phony individuals are known only by periodically issuing press statements and posts on social media are endorsers to disregard. These groups and individuals are greedy young men seeking attention, fame, and wealth without work.
