A charitable organization called Freedom Development Foundation The Gambia was on Saturday, 22nd January 2022, officially launched in Basse, Upper River Region.
As part of activities marking the launching ceremony of this new organization, over 50 families were supported with food aid supplies at the ceremony.
The organization was established late last year and registered in January 2022.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nuha Jabbi, Co-founder of the organization, said the group consists of Gambian and British members who are collaborating to promote and empower youth and women, eradicate poverty, provide clean drinking water to the communities, support the health and education sectors of the Gambia, engage in agricultural activities, providing shelter for the poor and the needy as well as supporting communities in times of disaster relief and mitigation.
To mark this historic launching, Mr. Jabbi went on, the organization decided to make a distribution of food aid to over 50 needy families.
According to him, the organization has sometime last year made a gesture to the communities in Basse and its surroundings. He further promised to continue supporting needy Gambian communities, especially in the rural areas.
For his part, Mr. Bilal Olagunju, Co-founder of the Freedom Development Foundation The Gambia, said the organization was registered in January 2022 but has been supporting Gambian communities since its establishment last year.
He recalled his first meeting with Nuha Jabbi in Belgium. He also spoke at length on the objectives of the organization and its future plans in many sectors of development.
Mrs. Fatoumata Jabbi, Chairperson of the organization said the donation is meant for over 50 families. She called on rural communities to support the initiatives of this organization, adding that priority will be given to the poor and needy families.
On his part, Manlafi Sanyang, chairman of the Village Development Committee (VDC) hailed the organization for the gesture. He urged Gambians to emulate this organization and thanked them on behalf of the VDC and Basse Area Council.
The beneficiaries expressed delight at the gesture and thanked the organization for coming to their aid.
