Hon. ABUBAKARY JAWARA was born in Gambissara Village of Jimara District, Upper River Region (URR), The Gambia. He was born to Alhaji Bajaija Jawara and Aja Fatou Kabba on the 10th February, 1974.
He started an industrious journey of business in Nigeria in 1994 and upon his return to The Gambia, he strived to make ends meet and later traveled to Congo Brazzaville with the sole purpose of looking forward to a greener pasture.
Knowing how difficult it was to live in The Gambia especially in the rural areas in 1995, he undertook another fruitful journey to Angola and stayed with his brother, and accumulated vast experience in the business domain. He later returned to The Gambia and reunite with the family in Gambissara Village.
Mr. Jawara has undoubtedly become one of Gambia’s business moguls in recent times and has been largely contributing his quota towards national development. His support to the communities, government institutions, and people, in general, has been really great. He has supported a lot of development sectors and has always been at the forefront of national development matters.
When the nation calls, Mr. Jawara is always available to render support by all means. This is evident by his large contributions to the welfare of the security sector, the health sector, youth, and women empowerment, among other important areas of the country’s development.
With over 15 years of experience in the business sector, Hon. Jawara becomes the first Gambia to establish a Tomato Factory in the country, employing hundreds of Gambians. Other areas of his intervention include his GACH Global Company which is also established in China, Hong Kong, and Angola.
The Gambisara-born business mogul has been recognized as an international businessman and diplomat par excellence.
In his quest to achieve excellence, the pragmatic and business-minded Jawara paved his way to Hong Kong in 2001 and later moved on to China in 2003 with enthusiasm and commitment in all frontiers, bearing in mind that China has
wider discoveries for start-up business holding companies. He defied all the odds and his life as a successful entrepreneur then began in China.
During his tenure in the foreign countries both in entrepreneurship and diplomatic services, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara has never engaged in dubious activities detrimental to the lives of the people around him, nor has he been found wanting.
The majority of the people might be curious why GACH Global Company started in other countries before he brought it to The Gambia.
Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara started several businesses in many countries until 2007 when he came up with Gambia, Angola, and China Global Company (GACH).
Currently, he has two offices that operate concurrently in The Gambia and China. After gaining public confidence, trust, and recognition Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara served as the Counsel General of The Republic of The Gambia to China from 2006 and runs until now. Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara combined a real capacity and transform into commercial practical solutions and made a fortune through GACH Company which led to the establishment of a multi-million dollar Tomato Paste factory which was inaugurated in 2018 as the first and only Tomato Paste factory in The Gambia.
He contributed to the effective service delivery of The Gambia Police Force in 2007 through the then Inspector General of Police and donated items worth eighty-five thousand dollars that helped the police in the execution of their duties on a daily basis.
Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara has successfully made business turnover from Angola to China and Hong Kong from 2007 to 2009 and generated sixty-seven million dollars $67M banking with HSBC Bank in Hong Kong and provides sufficient jobs along the way with efficient remuneration.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE HEALTH SECTOR
Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara being so particular to the advancement of public health care services, donated medical equipment worth seventy-five thousand dollars in support of National Blood Transfusion to then Health Minister, Omar Sey in 2015. Two years prior, in 2013 to be precise, he paid the medical bills of a Gambian migrant in Angola after he was stabbed in succession by criminal gangs and repatriated all the abandoned children in Angola to The Gambia with a sum of twenty-five thousand dollars.
In 2015 Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara through his courageous efforts and perseverance, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare received medical equipment from a partner organization based in China, as well as WFP and the UNDP as a way of contributing to national development.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread and affected the whole world, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara emphatically joined the fight against the pandemic and donated to the National Fundraiser through Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) a whooping half a million dalasi. He distributed sanitary supplies, humanitarian assistance, and food to the people of the Upper River Region through then Governor, Fanta Bojang Samateh Manneh in March 2020. These items are worth two hundred thousand dalasis.
In the same month, through GACH Company, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara himself led a community awareness tour and donated sanitary supplies to the public places with a sum of one hundred and fifty thousand dalasis.
JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Rendering assistance to the young people, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara extends his support to the growing youthful exuberance by establishing GACH Mining and
Construction Company in 2017 as well as GACH Security Company and GAM Hajj Posts in 2018. In mind to heavily contribute to the economic growth in Gambia, Hon.
Aboubacarr Jawara is more than committed to investing in his native country as the factories seek to provide employment opportunities for more than seven hundred people with the view of reaching out to farmers and buying the farm products to ensure value change, reduce food harvest loss as well as reduce the dependence rates and break down the shackles of unemployment.
WOMEN & YOUTH EMPOWERMENT, CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
From 2013 to date, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara has supported and empowered a lot of Gambian women groups by sponsoring their agricultural projects, donating millions of dalasi towards the youth advancement programs, and building mosques, schools as well as community development initiatives programs.
Between 2017 and 2019, he provided partnership support for Soninkara Sporting Association (SSA) that gathers all the
Soninkara Communities to a single football platform annually. Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara has donated twenty thousand dollars for the development programs of this Soninkara group.
The global convergence of Soninkes around the world to showcase their tradition, culture, and tutor the future generations of Soninkara hosted the 2020 edition in The Gambia under the direct supervision of Festival International Soninke Organisation (FISO) and Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara donated seven hundred and fifty thousand dalasi for the upkeep of member delegates from all parts of the world on The Gambian shores.
His continued support to the advancement of education and the welfare needs of the school children as well as access to clean drinking water, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara provided high-quality borehole facilities to Sanyang Community School worth five hundred thousand dalasis. The gesture was timely as indicated by the school administration and was inaugurated by Fatoumatta Jawara Dukureh on behalf of Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara. In the same community, in December 2020, he donated one thousand bags of cement and one hundred thousand dalasis to the community development and women’s assistance program in the gardens.
Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara’s philanthropist gesture was inherited from his late father. In October 2020, he donated thirty-seven motorbikes worth one million and one hundred thousand dalasis to the vulnerable citizens and the official handing over the event was held along the Bertil Harding Highway in his Office situated at Fatima Golden Plaza.
His passion and devotion to religious affairs made him build a mosque in Diabugu Batapa of URR in December 2020 at a tune of two million dalasis. He also sponsored over one hundred people’s pilgrimage packages to the holy land of Mecca, a trend he vowed to follow.
In March 2021 Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara donated 2.2 million dalasis to the community of Sanyang village in Kombo South and the Gambia Police Force for the construction of a standard police station in Sanyang village. This came after the previous station was burnt down by some disgruntled youths of the community.
On April 23, 2020, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara presented some food items to The Gambia Armed Forces at the Defence Headquarters in Banjul as part of his support to the national security.
Also on the 5th April 2021 Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara donated 100 street Lights to the community of Gambisara which amounts to D500,000 and six motorbikes to the needy Gambians estimated at an amount of D312,000.
On April 7, 2021, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara donated 800 bags of rice, 50 bags of sugar, 500 kilos of tomatoes, 1 car and 8 motorbikes to needy Gambians across the country.
In the same month of April 2021, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara donated D25,000 to the community of Gendeh village in URR for borehole drilling as water remains key in our daily lives. The same day he also donated D100,000 to Amie Bajo a university student who was battling kidney failure for her overseas treatment in India. This woman’s life and education were at stake but with help of Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara was able to go for overseas treatment in India.
Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara sponsored the building of a modern and well-equipped Police Station in Sanyang worth two million and two hundred thousand dalasis as a result of fire-ravaged by mob fighters and demonstrators angered by the Chinese behaviors in the community. On 7th April 2021, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara‘s annual Ramadan gift was distributed to the needy people around the country and he presented 800 bags of rice, 100 Tomato Paste Cans, and 8 motorbikes worth one million, five hundred, and sixty thousand dalasis. The ceremony took place at his office and was attended by distinguished personalities.
On April 23, 2021, he donated D10, 000 to Binta Taal, a police officer who got an accident while on official duty, for her medical treatment. Mohammed Mbye, a small-scale businessman was also given a new motorbike in order to support him develop his business and the presentation was done on 28th April 2021.
On May 6, 2021, 13 cattle were distributed to less privileged families across the country to support them during the Muslim feast of Eid.
On 21st May 2021, three (3) donations were made to different people for different purposes, the first D10,000 was donated to Dam Corr who was on medical treatment in Dakar to cover up his medical bills in Senegal, later in the day D6,000 was donated to a Gambia college student who was studying a diploma in education to cover up his tuition fee, then the day ended with a presentation of two cars which were donated
to two staff of GACH Global Company for their hard work and dedication towards their responsibilities.
He donated D20,000 to a talented Gambian artist to support his music. On the same day, an amount of D20,000 was donated to Aboubacarr Jawara’s fans club. On July 7th, 2021, D500,000 was donated to the community of Brufut for their village development project.
Hon. Jawara has again distributed on July 8th more than 60 rams to Gambians across the country in observance of the Eid Al Adha. This donation was estimated at the cost of D795,000. On 13th August 2021, he gave an amount of D30,000 to Ebrima Beyai for medical support. On August 21, 2021, the PIU quarters in Basse, sponsored by Abubacarr Jawara was inaugurated.
At least 1000 bags of cement were donated to the youths of Gambisara for the fencing of their football field and on August 28, 2021, he gave an amount of D20,000 to the National People’s Party (NPP) for their mega rally in Foni.
In September 2021, he supported Sukuta Nema Vendors Association to support the development of their business and market.
Mr. Jawara singlehandedly supported the community development project and installed one hundred solar street lights in his native village of Gambissara worth one million dalasis.
In another show of philanthropist gesture, Hon. Jawara donated 75,000 to a University law student in October 2021 and an uprising Gambian musician to support his career.
Hon. Abubakar Jawara in October 2021 paid a visit to the Darsilameh military post where he earlier donated 100 bags of cement and US$500 for the completion of the building. Upon seeing the post, Hon. Jawara made a new commitment to fence the entire 60 x 30 meters military compound and provide electricity supply.
Following his visit to the dormitories of the military officers, he offered to buy 100 mattresses and build a new Masjid (Mosque) for the men.
It could be recalled that Hon. Jawara and his GACH group built many police stations across the country in a bid to make the work of our men and women in uniform conducive. Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara CEO of GACH through his philanthropist gesture donated items worth D550,000 to Bilali Boarding school in Yundum. The boarding school was burnt during a serious fire incident, in which some innocent children lost their lives.
On 14th December 2021, 3 families from different cities got assistance from Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara. A lady from Basse Manneh Kunda received D15000, a young boy from Brikama received D250,000, and a man from Serekunda received D15,000. A total of 280,000 was given to the community.
Mr. Jawara has also bought agricultural materials including a tractor, with rice farming equipment amounting to 52,000 dollars (fifty-two thousand dollars) for his brother in Kossemar in Basse URR.
He also supported the education sector by sponsoring 200 students in his brother‘s school.
Hon. Jawara recently donated D500,000 (five hundred thousand dalasis) to the Gambia National Team (Scorpions) ahead of the AFCON 2022.
He sponsored one Fatoumata Jallow who has successfully completed her bar at the University of the Gambia. This young lady‘s dream of becoming a lawyer was achieved with help of Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara who sponsored her.

AWARDS
Known for his ambitious nature, courageous efforts, and perseverance, Hon. Aboubacarr Jawara received numerous awards for his humanitarian work and philanthropic gestures. The awards include The Goodwill Ambassador’s award from Operation Save The Children Foundation, the National Blood Transfusion Award in 2019, the Chinese Construction Award for his benevolent support, and the 2017 staff of the year by Sufeng.
Group’s Annual Best Partner Award, Gambian Iconic Award from the People’s Choice Magazine in 2019, African Leadership Award from France in 2019, and the prestigious
Businessman of the year from the Gambia Soninkara Namansanou (GSN) in the year of 2019, FIKA Annual Award night in Kaolack, Senegal as the Most Innovative Entrepreneur on the 10th of February 2019 which coincided with his birthday, and Ambassadorial Diplomat award in The African Leadership Award (ALA) in 2019.
He also received the Voice Achievers Award Dubai in October 2021.
This year too, Hon. Abubacarr Jawara has been nominated for the Heroes Award organized by The Fatu Network, to be held on Friday, 17th February 2022, a day before Gambia’s Independence Day celebration.
