The latest reported murder of a Chinese business man in Banjul last nite, is increasingly getting many Gambians worried about the perpetual reports of killings in various parts of the nation, this has somewhat prompted a lot of people to ask whether the country has morphed from being the smiling to a crying coast.
Last week, the nation woke up to the disturbing death of a young man, Momodou Lamarana Jallow, a staff member of the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who, according to media reports allegedly died at the Friendship hotel in Bakau after a violent confrontation with a girl friend.
This week, another young man, Cherno Bah was allegedly stabbed to death following an argument with a friend. In what has now become an ugly and unfortunate trend, a concerned social media commentator compiled these statistics:
September 12th, a man was stabbed to death in Jahanka, in the Central river region while he was reportedly struggling to protect a referee after a football match ended in chaos.
September 13th, a man was found dead near Maroun’s supermarket in Kololi, on the same day, Momodou Lamarana Jallow, a GCCI staffer, who was reportedly said to be bound for overseas studies, was allegedly murdered. September 14th, a seventeen year old man was allegedly stabbed to death in Sinchu Alagie. September 15th, a man was stabbed in Sinchu Wurry.
