According to a press release from the Independent Electoral Commission, Fatima Sarr, the only nominated female Independent Candidate for Mayoress for the Kanifing Municipal Council has today April 26th, tendered her withdrawal from contesting the Local Government Elections slated for May 12th 2018.
The press release indicated that the withdrawal is in accordance with Section 51 subsection (1) of the Elections Act,
In pursuance to Section 51 subsection (2) of the same act, the Returning Officer Mr. Lamin Cham filled in the Acceptance of Withdrawal Form and handed it over to Fatima Sarr, the press release stated.
