Police in the North Bank Region have arrested more than 20 people suspected in connection with recent spate of armed robbery in the region.
The investigation is ongoing to establish whether the suspected were really involved or have hands in the said robberies as they are detained at the Farafenni Police Station.
The Gambia National Petroleum Company (GNPC) and that of The Gambia Teachers’ Union (GTU), in Farafenni as well as EcoBank were all hit by recent armed robbery attacked forcing government to intensify security across the country.
A source in NBR said that robbers took away more than D118, 000 from GNPC in recent attack. The armed robbers who attacked the GTU’s Farafenni branch had equally went with substantial amount of money.
