In an exclusive interview with this reporter, the leader of APRC, Fabakary Tombong Jatta, while reacting to the Cabinet reshuffle effected by President Barrow, said that the coalition is in trouble.
“For us as a party and for me personally; for me the coalition is in trouble,” he said. “If you have observed some of the 7 8 members of the coalition have now been dropped out of the cabinet as per their agreement.”
“Honourable Mai Fatty is out, Omar AmadouJallow is out, and from vice president to foreign office for me is a demotion, DembaJawo though he was not a politician or a political head but he is also out so you can see the terrain.”
Jatta said he Gambians should read in between lines and learn from such.
“It is important that Gambians we read between lines and learn from these things. As others were saying these people came together for a three year period base on the fact that they want to remove the APRC government from power, Allah willing right or wrong they are in power,” he said.
The APRC leader however, said, the president is empowered by the constitution to change his cabinet and they have no qualms with that so long as its in the interest of the country.
If the president decides for whatever reason in the best interest of the country, decides to reshuffle his cabinet, we have no qualms about that. It only makes us remember what used to happen when President Jammeh shakes up the cabinet and people will talk about shaking shaking, you see what is happening now,” he queried.
“So the important thing there is, is it in the interest of the Gambia and to ensure productivity and service delivery, if sofine, if otherwise then one should be able to complain but he is empowered to change his cabinet whether we like it or not,” Tombomg said.
