The United Nations has approved $20M for The Gambia to support peace building efforts and the truth and reconciliation process currently underway in the country.
In a bilateral meeting held on Friday with the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres, at his office in New York President Adama Barrow thanked the United Nations for its continuous support to the government and people of The Gambia, particularly, for standing by the country in very crucial moments. He expressed personal gratitude to Mr. Guterres over the gesture.
Secretary General Guterres reiterated that the commitment of his office to providing the necessary support required, through the UN regional office for West Africa (UNOWAS), for the president and his government to succeed in sustaining a meaningful peace in The Gambia.
The two leaders discussed a wide range of issues about the ongoing transformations and development taking place in the country.
