Kebba Mbaye, Sering Jallow and Ebrima Jammeh were paraded before Magistrate Fatou Darboe of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on three counts of conspiracy, house breaking and stealing.
It was alleged by prosecutors that on or about the 4th day of October, 2018, at Manjai, in the Kanifing Municipality of the Republic of The Gambia, the accused conspired among themselves to commit a felony.
It was also alleged that the accused persons on the same date and at the same place broke into the house of one Phoday M. Jaiteh with intent to commit a felony.
Prosecutors further alleged that the three youths on the same date and at the same place broke into the house of the said Phoday M. Jaiteh and stole the following: LG flat screen valued at D25,000, a receiver valued at D3,000, 1,100 dollars equivalent to D54,395, 200 Euros equivalent to D11,426, 150 Swiss franc equivalent to D7,270.50, 100,000 CFA equivalent to D8,385 and D4,800, totaling D109,479.50, the property of Phoday M. Jaiteh.
They all denied any wrong doing, and were subsequently granted bail in the sum of D200,000 with two Gambian sureties each, who should swear to an affidavit of means and deposit their ID cards to the registrar of the court.
Magistrate Darboe remanded them until the 22nd of October, 2018, when the prosecuting officer, Sergeant 2717 Jallow, would call his witnesses to tell the court how the alleged breaking and theft took place.
