The flight carrying the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has landed at the Banjul International Airport, few minutes ago.
The visit is historic as it is the first time that a Turkish leader is visiting The Gambia since Independence. The Turkish leader is on a State visit to The Gambia and will proceed to Senegal tonight and other African countries in the coming days.
Turkey has strong bilateral relations with The Gambia and are cooperating in many areas as economic cooperation, security sector (military and police), infrastructure, trade, health, education sector, etc.
The Gambian leader, Adama Barrow, accompanied by his wife the First Lady Fatoumata Bah-Barrow and the vice president, Dr Isatou Touray, cabinet ministers and members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, received the Turkish president and his high-level delegation at the airport.
