An emergency cabinet session today that lasted five hours ended with a statement calling for calm and reinforcing The Gambia’s commitment to democratic principles it considers “sacred.”
Minister of Information and Communications Infrastructure, Hon Ebrima Sillah told waiting journalists that Cabinet has taken note of a number of issues.
The government has called on “the generality of The Gambian people to remain calm and assure them that situation is under complete control.”
“We want to assure the international community of our sacred duty to be committed to democratic principles and that Gambia government will continue to be engaged in those sacred principles,” he said.
