President Adama Barrow’s first choice for the office of the Ombudsman, Baboucarr A. Suwareh has been appointed by the Public Service Commission (PSC), following the scrutiny and rejection of his appointment as The Ombudsman by deputies in the National Assembly, in December 2019.
President Barrow has approved the appointments of Mr. Suwareh and Musa O. Sanneh, both seasoned educationists, to serve in the PSC. They were both sworn-in on Thursday, 13th February 2020, at the Cabinet room, Office of the President, State House in Banjul.
Mr. Suwareh handed over the Ombudsman top job last week following his new appointment.
In a similar development, Justice Zainabou Nguie Mboob, a former High Court judge was also re-instated earlier this year. She was sworn-in on Thursday alongside with the two newly appointed members of the PSC.
The trio took oaths of allegiance, office and secrecy in the execution of their functions of their offices.
President Barrow, in his remarks, reminded the trio that their decisions and action in the course of executing their duties will impact on the lives of Gambians.
Mr. Barrow said the new appointments are part of his government’s continuous search for Gambians who will contribute towards the strengthening of governance structures and improve the performance in delivering service to the citizenry in the best interest of the nation.
