First case of Coronavirus confirmed in Senegal

Senegal has confirmed its first case of Corona virus disease on Monday. The patient is a Frenchman living in Almadies. The Pasteur Institute of Dakar, the Senegalese capital, confirmed the results after the man was strongly suspected of Coronavirus. He traveled the day before yesterday on board Air Senegal. The Ministry of Health and Social Action will request the manifest to follow the travellers on this flight, which landed at Blaise Diagne International Airport.

Earlier, the President of the Republic, Macky Sall, has called an emergency meeting at the Palace of the Republic, this Monday morning, to discuss the situation. It was at the end of this meeting that the Senegalese authorities confirmed the suspect case before the results of the Pasteur Institute confirmed the presence of the Coronavirus in Senegal.

After Algeria, Egypt and Nigeria, Senegal is the fourth country to confirm a first case.
