After Serigne Mountakha Bassirou Mbacké, the general Khalife of the mourides, Youssou Ndour, is the second Senegalese to give his considerable support to the State of Senegal in the fight against the coronavirus. The Senegalese musician has on Saturday donated a large consignment of products and sanitary equipment, through the Minister of Health and Social Action, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Future Media Group, Youssou Ndour, as part of his “Operation Daan Corona” launched on Friday, made this gesture in the fight against Coronavirus.
“This is not a surprise for us. Knowing the man (Youssou Ndour) and his commitment to the people. He is always on his feet when the country needs him and, in all circumstances,,” said Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr.
For his part, Youssou Ndour maintained that the fight against the Coronavirus is not only the fight of the authorities, but of all Senegalese. “In view of the situation, which is more than worrying, it is imperative that we join forces to defeat this disease, which is gaining ground in a worrying way. From now on, we have an obligation to support the authorities’ action to defeat the disease. This is the only fight that is worthwhile at the moment,” said the international artist.
