The Gambia Armed Forces wishes to confirm the arrest of Corporal Sarjo Conteh and Corporal Ismaila Saidyfaye of The Gambia Armed Forces in connection with the missing fuel coupons at the Defence Headquarters worth over D300,000.00. The soldiers are presently in the custody of the military police helping them in their investigations.
On Wednesday 8 April 2020, all the guards and soldiers on duties at the Defence Headquarters on the night of the ‘break-in and theft’ were arrested and detained by the military police. All the soldiers are in ‘open custody’ meaning that they are detained but allowed limited freedoms pending the conclusion of investigations by the GAF.
