Gambia 2021: Independent presidential aspirant vows to make a difference

By Pierre Njie

Ms. Marie Sock, an independent presidential aspirant for the 2021 presidential election in the Gambia has said that her candidacy is purposely meant to steer the wheels of the country to its right course and make a difference.

She said: “I am here as the captain of the ship and I am here to steer the wheels to the right course. I can only steer the wheels to the right course and am doing that for the youth of the Gambia because they don’t have a voice. I want the youths to start having voices. I want the young girls to start speaking up, coming out showing their talents and who they really are. I am going to steer this ship, but as I am standing on the steering wheel, I need every Gambian woman to stand with me.”

Ms. Sock made these remarks at a press conference she organised at her party secretariat on Saturday in Bijilo.

Ms Sock called on women and youths of the Gambia to support her in this crusade.

“This is a journey for me and for all the women of the Gambia. This is a journey for the youths of the Gambia because I stand for them. I represent the women of The Gambia and am also representing the youths of the Gambia for a better chance,” she stated.

She described the upcoming 2021 presidential election as the revolution of change for all the women and the youths of the Gambia.

She said for the Gambia to move forward in 2021, women and youths must participate in national development, and must be recognized and respected, adding that she has ten cardinal pillars to develop the country if elected into office.
