Health authorities in the Gambia have on Monday disclosed that the country has now registered four new confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The Health Ministry said: “Case 038 is a 24 year old male, Nigerian national who was ordinarily resident in Senegal until he ventured to seek for employment opportunities in The Gambia and arrived at the border on the 17th June where he was picked up and taken into quarantine. A sample was collected from him and a positive test result came out on the 20th.”
According to the health officials, case number 039 is a Gambian antenatal mother with an elaborate travel history.
“Case 040 is a 6-month-old male Gambian national who (with his mother and sister) came back from Senegal on the 19th June and was picked from the border and taken into quarantine the same day. While both his traveling companions tested negative for COVID-19, his test returned positive on the 21st June.”
“Case 041 is a 42-year-old male with dual citizenship (Gambian & Senegalese) who came back from Senegal on the 19th June and was picked from the border and taken into quarantine the same day. His sample was collected on the 20th June and a positive test result for COVID-19 came out on the 21st June.”
