While today is a moment for reflection and mourning, grief is everywhere, for the whole nation mourns the death of Dr. Omar Touray. I am deeply saddened to learn about a scholar passing away, an organic intellectual, a thinker, an exemplary administrator, and a trusted leader, besides an outstanding accomplished veterinarian. His contributions to defining and defending the Gambian polity of veterinary science were substantial and a pragmatist in public policy. Dr. Omar M Touray served as the first Gambian coordinator of the EU support country office. His decency and courtliness were legendary. The Gambia’s impoverished public life has lost someone of rare quality, one whose like will not easily be seen again. A scholar’s end is an affliction that cannot be compensated and a void that cannot be filled.
Dr.Omar Touray’s sudden death has expressed the sadness of his family, his colleagues, and the nation a whole. Dr. Omar Touray, who was greatly respected and admired. I prayed to Allah SWT to repose his soul and strength and fortitude to the deceased’s bereaved family to bear the loss. My profound and sincere condolences to Mr. Abdoulie Touray and family also to brother Matarr Sallah. May Allah grant him the highest Alijannah Firdausi and comfort his family. Please recite Surat al-Fatiha. May Allah grant him Aljannah Firdausi.
