Tomorrow, as we celebrate Africa Liberation Day, the People who were tried, convicted, and jailed by competent colonial courts will be honored and praised for engaging in criminal activities. Persecuted for political emancipation and Sovereign republican demands:

We should never forget the gallant freedom fighters that sacrificed everything. Some of them laid down their lives and paid the ultimate price for the liberation of our motherland, but was it worth it. Absolutely Yes: To become sovereign people. Not forgetting our own Francis Edward Small.

In commemoration of African Liberation Day, and as we look back with a sense of nostalgia, we will remember Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, we will remember Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, remember our own Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara. We will remember Ben Bella of Algeria, just as we will also remember Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia, Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, and Leopold Senghor of Senegal are not to be left out. These are heroes and founders of the Pan-African movement who believed that the people’s good was far better than their sound.

Today the African continent can talk about economic emancipation because political emancipation has been attained. These heroes have laid a foundation upon which all of us should build another foundation on which our children’s children can look back and say, yes! There was a time when this generation stood for its people.
