Foreign Minister Tangara calls for accountability for Rohingya as he meets OIC Secretary-General

The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, has informed the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC), His Excellency Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen that events in Myanmar’s Rakhine State amounts to genocide and thus called for concerted efforts in ensuring accountability for the Rohingya.
Dr. Tangara made this call on 21 September 2021 during an audience he had with His Excellency Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen on the sidelines of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Minister Tangara welcomed the support and commitment of the OIC to The Gambia’s bid to host the forthcoming OIC Summit and also for the attainment of ever-lasting accountability for Rohingya. Additionally, the Honourable Minister expressed the firm commitment of the country’s leadership to attaining accountability for Rohingya.
His Excellency Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen congratulated The Gambia ahead of the OIC Summit and offered OIC’s readiness to support with the hosting of OIC Summit as well as its continuous commitment to accountability for Rohinyga.
