Posted by President Adama Barrow of the Gambia has sworn-in Fatoumata Jallow Tambajang as the country’s vice president.

The Minister of Women’s Affairs, who was overseeing the portfolio of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) will be the principal assistant of Mr Barrow in the discharge of his executive functions and other functions assigned to her.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs Jallow-Tambajang assured President Barrow of her full support and commitment to work together with her colleagues in the cabinet to transform the Gambia into a greater nation.
“For two decades our nation has encounter challenges under the bad leadership of the former President Jammeh, which we have fought until we got our freedom back”, she said.
Mrs Tambajang played a great role in the formation of the opposition alliance which defeated Mr Jammeh’s regime in last December’s election.
A BA holder in French from the University of Nice, France, Ms Tambajang who was in Brikama, will be among a few Gambians who have served in all three administrations in the Gambia.
During the regime of Sir Dawda Jawara, she served as an adviser on women and children’s affairs. In the former regime of Yahya Jammeh, she served as secretary of state for Health, Social Welfare and Women’s Affairs from 1994 to 1995.
Ms Tambajang also worked for United Nation’s Development Programme (UNDP) as chief technical adviser on gender in Liberia from 2000 to 2002.
