Testifying before Justice Kumba Sillah Camara at Bnajul High Court Baba Danso former National Intelligent Agent said he was instructed by 3rd accused person Saikou Omar Jeng to escorted Solo Sandeng and four others to NIA Headquarters in Banjul.

“I have been working for the NIA for the past twenty years and as at April 14 2016 I was the officer commanding political unit and my responsibilities revolved around political and union issues”, said Mr Danso.

Still testifying, Danso added that on the said day while going home he found some people at Westfield talking about the arrest of Solo Sandeng and Co, so he asked where they were taken and he was told that they were at the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) Headquarters in Kanifing. “I decided to go there with some security officers and upon arrival I went to the PIU commander’s office after which Yankuba Badjie 1st accused came in”.

Shortly after Solo Sandeng and Co were brought out and put on board in two NIA pickups then the 3rd accused asked me to escort them to Banjul and hand them over to 2nd accused person Louise Gomez the then deputy director general, Danso explained.

Upon their arrival at NIA, Danso said they found James Mendy, the man in charge of physical security who, after making a phone call to the 2nd accused person, told him (Danso PW5) the 2nd accused had given instructions to hand over Solo Sandeng and Co to him (James).

After doing that, said PW5, he left for PIU to hand over the pickups after which he went home.  Case continues on Wednesday 13th December at 12pm.
