Barrow Commends WAEC For Being Model in African Integration

President Barrow of the Gambia has commended the West African Examination Council (WAEC) for being a model of African integration.

Speaking at a meeting with a delegation from WAEC from Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and the Gambia currently attending the organisation’s 66thannual general meeting, which is being held in Banjul, Mr Barrow said there is capacity and knowledge in Africa thus there is no excuse for failure.

He argued that Africa can learn best practices from others by putting emphasis on science and technology as key areas to the continent’s development.

Mr. Barrow added that with the political will and commitment to education, Africa can develop. He acknowledged that Africa is on the right direction by focusing on democracy as the way forward and there is optimism about African integration.

Meanwhile, as part of WAEC’s annual meeting and the 23rd Annual Endowment Fund, a lecture was conducted by Dr. Babucarr Sulay Sarr, on the theme ‘Development Partner/Government Partnership in Education Sector Financing: Perspectives on the respective roles, opportunities and responsibilities in the identification of needed sector improvement intervention, the factual design of related projects and the provision of the conditions for effective implementation.
