Nigerian Peacekeeper In The Gambia Dies

Staff Sergeant Abubakar Abdullahi of Nigerian Contingent has passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning, July 4, 2018. He was 46, according to ECOMIG Mission in The Gambia.

He was observed to be experiencing irregular breathing while in his sleep and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention, however, he could not survive,” a statement from the ECOMIG Mission states.

His body is currently being kept at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital morgue, while arrangements are underway for repatriation in Nigeria for rites and burial in accordance with military tradition.
