In response to sending out a staff rep. from a maiden board meeting the staff of the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC) on Thursday began a sit-down-strike.
The animosity between the staff of the institution and managing director began last month when staff demanded manager’s resignation on corruption allegation.
“The new chairman Mr. Sheriff Jallow decided not to discuss the petition and made it an Agenda Point for deliberations,” said Momodou Camara, a chartered accountant and senior audit manager of the institution said in a press statement.
“The board decided to dwell on other infinitesimal issues instead of the substantive issue about the staff petition against Mr. Manjang the managing director, which is laden with corruption, per diem scandal, favouritism, abuse of office and others levied against him,” said Camara.
Mr. Camara, who is also the SSHFC Staff rep at the board appealed for the Executive to intervene and solve the impasse for the betterment of The Gambia.
