Saudi Arabia Affirms Intent To Boost Ties With Gambia

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its commitment to intensify relations with The Gambia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad has announced.

The announcement was made during the visit of Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs as Special Envoy of H.E. President Adama Barrow, to Jeddah on Wednesday 12thSeptember 2018.

Honourable Minister Tangara was received in audience by His Majesty King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. The Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques.

After warmly welcoming Minister Tangara, His Majesty The King asked him to reaffirm to President Barrow, Saudi Arabia’s commitment to intensify bilateral cooperation with The Gambia in all fields of development.

The audience was attended by H.E. Mr. Adel Bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir – Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Al-Qattan- Minister of State for African Affairs, H.E. Mr. Musaad Bin Mohammed Al-Aiban- Minister of State at the Royal Court, H.E. Mr. Abdulaziz bin Saud Bin Naif bin Abdul-Aziz

AlSaud – Minister of Interior and other Princes as well as Members of the Royal Family.

After the audience with the King, Minister Tangara and members of his delegation, which included Mr. Omar Gibril Sallah, Ambassador of The Gambia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia & Permanent Representative to the OIC and Mr. Lamin Sanneh, CEO of the OIC National Secretariat had separate engagements with his Saudi counter as well as H.E. Mr. Ahmed Al-Qattan- Minister of State for African Affairs. Their discussion centered on the latest developments, regional and international and ways and means to bolster bilateral cooperation.

To this effect, Saudi is to open Consulate in Banjul this year which will later be upgraded to an Embassy at a date to be mutually agreed upon by the two countries.

Dr. Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs concluded his successful visit to Saudi Arabia on Thursday 13th September 2018.
