IOM conducts training for female journalists on migration reporting

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is currently organizing a training for 20 female journalists on migration reporting, at the Senegambia Beach Hotel in Kololi. The participants are drawn from the Women Journalists Association of The Gambia (WOJAG).

The IOM Chief of Mission to The Gambia, Fumiko Nagano, describes the voice of female journalists as a powerful tool on the issue of migration, because they are the most vulnerable when it comes to migration.

Aminata Sanneh, Secretary General of the Women Journalists Association of The Gambia, says it is important for journalists to know how to report on issue of migration.

“We have only female here & it’s time to tell our own story and discuss some of the challenges female migrants are faced with,” she remarked.
