By Assan Sallah

Sergeant Lamin Sima, a Narcotics officer who was detained at the CTI, the Drug Law Enforcement Agency Gambia’s (DLEAG) investigation unit in Bijilo, has been dismissed from the agency. He is also granted bail and is expected to appear in court when investigations into his case are completed.

The suspect (Sima) was allegedly caught with four (4) bags of Cannabis in Penyem Village in the West Coast Region sometime in March this year.

Contacted for confirmation of this information, Ousman Saidy Bah, spokesperson of the DLEAG confirmed Sergeant Sima’s dismissal for discreditable conduct contrary to the code of conduct of the agency.

“He will be charged for possession of prohibited drugs for the purpose of drug trafficking in contravention of Section 43 (4)e of the Drug Control Act 2003. He has equally been granted bail in adherence to his constitutional right. However, the matter is still being investigated,” he said.
