The Gambian High Commissioner in The UK is investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 25-year-old Muhammed Jassey in Whitehawk Brighton area. This information was relayed by Mr. Bamba Mass, a Protocol and Welfare Officer at the Gambian High Commission in The UK, in a Facebook post he made Wednesday morning.
Jassey murdered by assailants in The UK two weeks ago.
When contacted to shed light on the issue, Bamba Mass said: “The Embassy is doing everything possible to establish the truth and ensure that justice is done. I have contacted the bereaved family and I am in contact with the police who are investigating the matter. They give me briefings about every step in the investigation.”
Mr Mass has also on behalf of the Gambian Embassy mourned the deceased and said in a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon that: “The Brighton & Howe police are working on the case and my office which looks after the Welfare of Gambians is in constant contact with them.”
A publication made by The Argus Newspaper in The UK stated: “Police were called to Whitehawk Road, just south of the junction with Findon Road, about 2.30pm today. A man believed to be in his 20s was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious injuries, where he later died. Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder. All four suspects remain in police custody.”
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Geldart, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim and his family at this very difficult time.”
