Gambia confirms 10th case of COVID-19

The Gambia’s Health Ministry has today confirmed the 10th confirmed case of Coronavirus in The Gambia. This information was revealed at a press briefing held at the Health Ministry’s Secretariat in Kotu.

Speaking at the press briefing, Dr. Mustapha Bittaye, director of Health Services, said out of the 23 lap results received one returned out positive. “The newly confirmed case is one case whose first repeat test result was negative. The remaining 22 results turned negative,” he added.

He outlined that the remaining 16 are results are new tests conducted, adding that two people have been discharged from quarantine center after testing negative upon completion of their mandatory quarantine period.

Dr. Bittaye also disclosed that 21 additional people have been taken into quarantine and 19 of whom were close contacts of the second confirmed case of COVID-19.
