Gambia: Man arrested with two bundles of suspected cannabis in Mankamang Kunda

Officers of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency Gambia (DLEAG) have today arrested one Abdoulie Baldeh with two big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa, in Mankamang Kunda village, Jimara District, Upper River Region.

The suspect is currently in custody and investigation into the matter is ongoing.

In another development, the DLEAG officers have also arrested nine (9) suspects within the Kanifing Municipality and the West Coast Region over the weekend.

According to reports, fifteen (15) bundles, one hundred and thirty- nine (139) parcels, one hundred and fourty- nine (149) wraps and some quantities of suspected cannabis were obtained from the suspects.

Another case in URR

One Samba Colley and his wife are also in custody on suspicion of engaging in drug trafficking. They were arrested with 17 big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa on the 10 April 2020 in Nyakui village, Sandu District, Upper River Region.

When contacted to shed light on these arrests, Ousman Saidybah, the public relations officer of the DLEAG confirmed all the stories and said investigations are ongoing. He said they will be arraigned in court in due course.
