Gambia: 5 new cases of Coronavirus confirmed

The Director of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, Dr Mustapha Bittaye has on Saturday announced that the Gambia has now confirmed five new cases of coronavirus cases. He made this revelation at the Health Ministry’s Central Medical Stores in Kotu during a press briefing on the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Dr. Bittaye, among the five new cases, three were close contacts of the 11th case of COVID-19, one was linked to the 12th confirmed case and the other one is from the Central River Region (CRR). However, Dr. Bittaye also informed the gathering that the new cases were all in their quarantine centers and were transferred to treatment center as soon as they were confirmed positive.

He advised the people to observe social distancing and put into practice preventive measures as explained by the health authorities. He said the Gambia now has 7 active cases and 2 probable cases.
