Gambia: Assembly to discuss further extension of State of Public Emergency on Friday

The Gambia’s National Assembly has announced that it will convene a Second Extra-Ordinary Session in 2020 Legislative Year for the period Friday 15th – Wednesday 20th May, 2020, during which issues surrounding the further extension of the State of Public Emergency, Revised Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, 2020 and the Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2020 will be discussed.

This information was contained in a public notice issued by the National Assembly on Wednesday, 13th May 2020.

SECOND EXTRA-ORDINARY SESSION IN THE 2020 LEGISLATIVE YEAR
15TH – 20TH MAY, 2020

The Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly wishes to inform the general public that the National Assembly will convene its Second Extra-Ordinary Session in 2020 Legislative Year for the period Friday 15th – Wednesday 20th May, 2020 at 10:00am to consider, among others, the under-mentioned important urgent matters of State:

  1. The further Extension of the period of the State of Public Emergency;
  2. The Revised Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, 2020;

iii. The Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2020.

The Hon. Attorney General and Minister for Justice and the Hon. Ministers for Finance & Economic Affairs shall table the aforesaid businesses respectively for the consideration of the Assembly.

The Sittings commences at 10:00am prompt. However, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Chambers (sittings) are not opened to the General Public but the proceedings will be broadcast live.
