COVID-19: Gambia Records 148 New Cases, 3 New Deaths

This is the 125th national situation report since the confirmation of the first case of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in The Gambia, on the 17th March 2020
 
😪 3 new COVID-19 related deaths recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 87 – a crude case-fatality ratio of 3.2%
o While 2 of the new deceased cases were COVID-19 patients at a treatment centre, one tested positive when his sample was collected posthumously
o Out of a total of 12 posthumous sample results received, only 1 returned positive for COVID-19
o The median age, at death, of the deceased cases (2 males and 1 female) is 89 years (range: 37 to 93 years)
🤧 148 new cases registered, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 2,685
o This represents a 31% test positivity rate (148 out of 483 total tests performed)
o The median age of the new cases is 37 years (range: 6 to 104 years)
🤧 483 new laboratory test results received from MRCG and NPHL
o Of these, 6 new tests returned indeterminant 😔 35 new discharges effected from the treatment centres, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to date to 476 (17.7% recovery rate)
• Whereas 23 were newly taken into quarantine, 18 new discharges were made
😷 The country currently has 296 people in quarantine, 2,108active cases, 214 probable cases and a crude case-fatality ratio of 3.2%
