GAF ends pre-deployment training course

The Gambia Armed Forces Training School on Thursday ended a three- week intensive training course on thematic peace keeping areas such as base security combat casualty care, gender training, protection of civilians, among others.

Speaking at the event, lieutenant Abdoulie Bah Commandant of the Gambia Armed Forces Training school said three weeks ago the British Army short term training team under the leadership of Aidan Waleh arrived in the Gambia to support the GAF in preparing QRF 2 for fire peace support operations in any United nations mission around the world.

 

He added an ideal society needs to be built by mankind, a society that is spiritually beautiful, mentally affluent and humanly rewarding. It can only be possible if there is peace and security in the world, the importance of peace in the society is obvious without peace there will be no nation and no individual can move forward said Bah


He concluded by thanking the participants for their diligence and
cooperation. “indeed I never doubted your level of professionalism and discipline. To His excellency the high commissioner, we are grateful for your support

Chief of Defence Staff Gambia Armed forces Lt Gen Yankuba Drammeh encouraged the graduates to maintain a peaceful society, pointing out that there is nothing that can replace peace and security.

I want you all to stay away from tribal or political line, tribalism has proven to be very dangerous in a society said CDS Drammeh

He added that training is key in any organization and contribute immensely to the socioeconomic development of the country.
