President Barrow mourns Biri Biri

President Adama Barrow has joined Gambians in mourning the late football legend Alhaji Momodou Njie, widely known as Biri Biri. The country’s football legend passed away in Dakar, Senegal on Sunday morning following a brief illness.

Below is copy of President Barrow’s message.

I learned with deep sorrow the passing away of Gambian football legend, Alhajie Momodou Njie alias Biri Brii who died today in Dakar, Senegal.

I join his family, friends, and fans to mourn his death. Though death is inevitable, Biri’s life is worth celebrating. He made a name for himself and as a patriot flown our national flag high in the world of football.

Biri was a kind, generous and friendly person who supported and stood by his family and friends. May his gentle soul rest in Jannahtul Firdausi.
