Bensouda Hails Electorates After A Convincing Win

Talib Ahamed Bensouda has hailed all the candidates that participated in this election, while congratulating all those who won the race.

“I respect you for your efforts. A time has come to move our regions into an era of prosperity. We will together make a better KMC,” he said in a statement made via social media after being officially declared as the winner in the Kanifing Municipal Council’s Mayoral Election on May 12, 2018.

He equally saluted voters that participated in this election, saying everybody is winner in this democratic process.

“We have proven that the fundamentals of democracy are sound, I urge you all to celebrate responsibly and peacefully,” the mayor elect said.

Mr. Bensouda equally paid tribute to his campaign team for a yearlong hard-work and, saying it’s now time to work.

He saluted all the candidates and the general Gambian populace for what he described as showing great maturity and civility.

The UDP won 7 seats out of 8 available mayoral and chairman seats losing only a seat to the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) in the Janjanbureh Administrative Area of Kuntaur CRR North.

These wins included two of the most important administrative councils, Banjul City Council (BCC) and Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC).

After a well laid down manifesto and campaign trail, the people of Kanifing Municpality have now Mr. Bensouda given the chance to deliver as promised.

However, he expressed his gratitude to the entire municipality for exercising their democratic rights in a peaceful manner.
