Amid chaotic scenes in the early hours of the election some delegates were denied entry at the venue where the event was scheduled to be mounted, the incumbent Mr Lamin Kaba Bajo has clinched a fresh mandate as president of the Gambia Football Federation.

Mr Sadibu Kamaso, a business executive who’s also passionate about the growth and development of sports wrestled with Bajo in his bid to occupy the hot seat at GFF.

Mr Kaba Bajo who was elected as GFF president in 2014 has been re- elected by the football delegates to serve for another four years as the president of Gambia Football Federation.

Out of 77 votes Mr. Kaba Bajo received 51 votes whilst Mr Kamaso received 25 votes and one in valid vote.

The election committee conducted the elections, the team from various regions where present with many stakeholders.

Omar Sowe member of Team Restore Confidence (TRC) said the process of the election was not fair, “though I was not present when Mr Kamaso was denied entry to the premises but I was told about it and it was not a fair play” said Mr Sowe.

Mr Sowe added that they will be coming back in the next 4 years to contest for the presidency again.

Lamin Jaiteh member of team Kaba said he was happy that Mr Kaba Bajo has been re-elected, “I know what kaba can do that’s why I am happy about this victory,” said Jaiteh.

“I have voted for Kaba because he is doing tremendous work in the federation so I want the Team Restore Confidence to come and join hands together to work for a better Gambia. Kaba has promoted all the teams in the Region before the Region’s were not part of the division but Kaba make that changes and Alhamdullilah we are now playing in the division.”

Speaking to the press, Mr Sadibou Kamaso congratulated Mr Kaba Bayo for been re- elected as the president for GFF 2022. “The electoral process was free and fair, but the fact that I was denied entry by the security that wasn’t fair on me. The constitutional amendment that was done today this morning was also not fair to me because I was not told about some of the female positions, for me to prepare my team for it but I was told about it this morning”.

Kamaso finally accused Kaba Bajo of meeting with some of the stakeholders last night and bribed them, which he said is an election malpractice, adding that he and his team would meet and discuss the results of the elections.
